PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wareham Town Administrator Mark Andrews is kicking off his “Safe Summer 2010” program in conjunction with State Senator Marc Pacheco’s Town Forum visit on Tuesday, June 29th at 10:00 A.M. in the Wareham Town Hall cafeteria.
Accompanying Senator Pacheco will be Secretary Ian Bowles of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and Representative Susan Williams Gifford. Following a briefing to Town leaders, a gathering of key players in the development of “Safe Summer 2010” will take place at the Onset Pier.
“Safe Summer 2010” is a unique program that was put together by department heads and Wareham citizens under the leadership of Town Administrator Andrews. The program focuses on providing a safe environment for the residents and visitors who come to the villages of Onset and Wareham during the busy summer months to enjoy our many beautifully preserved salt water beaches.
It is an integrated program that coordinates our new Life Guard program, Harbormaster, EMS, Health Department, Town Administrator, and the Board of Selectmen. Our mission is designed to showcase the awesome beauty of Onset Bay and promote Wareham as a destination point on the Southcoast.
This program was created along the same lines as Senator Pacheco’s goal of stimulating the local and regional economy as well as creating jobs in these times of economic challenges. Additionally, Secretary Bowles’ and Representative Gifford’s experience and commitment to the environment is an invaluable resource for our area that is surrounded by 54 miles of coastline and fragile wetlands.
