NOTARY OATH
The Clerk's Office has three Commissioners to Qualify for Public
Office available to administer oaths to Notaries Public, Monday
through Friday, by appointment only. One should have the
letter with the seal before making an appointment.
GENERAL OATHS
The Commissioners to Qualify for Public Office are available
to swear in all appointees of the town, Monday through Friday,
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All others, i.e. state appointments,
are done by appointment only and a small fee of $8.00 applies.
NOTARY SERVICES
The Clerk's Office has three Notaries Public to notarize
documents. This service is offered Monday through Friday
from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. only.
Anyone needing a document notarized must sign the document
in the presence of the Notary. A valid picture identification,
preferably a license, with the correct home address, is needed
to prove identity. Temporary license or lerner permits will no
longer be accepted as proof of identity.
Due to the complexity in notarizing of wills, the Town Clerks
Office will no longer provide this service.
The notarizing of mortgages often requires the need for
witnesses. The majority of the time, we have three people
in the office. However, during those times we do not, it
becomes the responsibility of the customer to provide the
witnesses.
