The Wareham Free Library offers free assistance with reading, writing, mathematics, and life skills, free of charge, to adults.  Volunteer tutors are trained to provide support and instruction for adult learners at various educational levels.  Some students may want to improve their reading comprehension to prepare for college work, while others may be mastering basic letter sounds.  Some students are preparing to take the GED high school equivalency exam and need help with test preparation.  Other students include those who speak other languages who want to improve their English speaking and/or reading and writing.

Reading Partners tailors each student's schedule and program to meet his or her educational goals.  Students usually meet once a week with a tutor at the Wareham Free Library.  All materials are free of charge.

Tutors are always needed.  Trainings are scheduled regularly to familiarize volunteers with the program and its materials.  Tutors need not have a background in teaching but should be available to meet with a student once per week at a mutually convenient time.  A one year commitment is desirable.

For more information about the program or to learn how to volunteer to become a tutor, please call Deena Kinsky, Program Coordinator, at  508-295-2343 extention 1018.

This program is supported in part with funding from a Block Grant
administered by The Wareham Community and Economic Development Authority
