To Whom It May Concern:  News Release

The Wareham Historical Society respectfully requests the following information be announced for their March 15, 2010 program.

The Wareham Historical Society will present a program on “Ice Harvesting” at 7 P.M., Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Old Methodist Meeting House, 495 Main Street, Wareham.

Artificial ice machines and electric refrigerators have made the harvesting, storing and selling of natural ice an industry of the past.  Come and learn about what life was like in times gone by.

Dorothy Thayer, board member of the Middleborough Historical Association and past president, will use a video (originally 8mm movies) during her presentation on ice harvesting.  She will also provide packets of advertisements and other documents about the ice industry for the audience participation portion of her program.  Mrs. Thayer is a retired Middleborough High School social studies teacher and created and taught a course on local history.

Respectfully submitted,

Angela M. Dunham (2nd Vice President)
