Omissions or Corrections to Previous Progress Meeting:

  • None
Present Construction Status:

  • Main line crew completed installation of the new sewer and force main on Cromesett Rd.
  •  Gioioso began installation of service connections on Cromesett Rd.
  • Gioioso completed installation of the new sewer (gravity and pressure) on Mark’s Cove Rd.
  • Gioioso is currently completing initial paving between manholes 1D and 3B on Cromesett Rd.
  • Service crew is currently installing 6” laterals on Cromesett Rd.

Old Business:

  • Pre-construction videos – CDM Wareham understands that outstanding videos of project streets (except for Cromesett Rd. and Avenue A) have been sent to Cambridge. PG&S concurred; all videos were given to CDM resident engineer.
  • No change - WFDWD updated status of water main replacements in the Oakdale section of the project. As stated previously, Johnson St. and Washburn Ct. have been completed. Work on Hollow Tree Ave is awaiting delivery of materials. HDPE will be the pipe of choice for this street.
  • CDM resident stated that the formal ‘Settlement Monitoring’ data recorded by Tibbetts Eng., during pipe installation at the RR Xing on Indian Neck Rd. has been received.

  • Indian Neck Rd./Mayflower Rd. CO. – Although approved by the WD and BOS, CDM has yet to formalize a CO package for signature by the BOS which will then allow work to proceed-change order will be presented to the Board for their June 8 meeting.
  • Mass Coastal RR – CDM noted that billings have been reviewed with the Town (Mark Gifford) as to the LS overage and recorded daily labor/equipment hours  which differ significantly from hours tallied by CDM. Mark to discuss with TA Mark Andrews as to direction on whether to approve payment. At present, cost is north of the $75,000 allowance; CDM and the Town met with the MCRR on May 19, 2010; MCRR agreed to provide further documentation (costs and backup) for review by CDM and the Town-documentation has not been received as of this date.
  • No change - Avenue ‘A’ PS – PG&S is still reviewing cost implications that may result from relocating the station from parcel abutting #24 Avenue A to the original location on the corner of Avenue A and Sandwich Rd.

  • Cromesett Road. Additional cost of $15,100 quoted by PG&S to lower the pipeline between MH 1A and 4B in conjunction with the proposed relocation of the Cromesett Rd. PS has been forwarded to the Town for review; this cost does not include the cost of changing the station; sign-off is needed from the property owner to allow Gioioso to install the manhole outside the station-Municipal Maintenance will follow up with Town legal.
  • CDM still awaiting response from PG&S on any additional costs that may be incurred with the proposed move of the Connehassett Rd. PS to Mattapoisett Rd.; these costs and CDM redesign costs have been approved by the Board of Selectmen; final plan revisions yet to go to Gioioso.
  • CDM again reminded PG&S that their asbestos cement pipe disposal plan has yet to be submitted; Municipal Maintenance asked if pipe can be left in place-WFDWD/Gioioso to look at.

  • CDM stated that the surge arrestor submittal has been received and is being reviewed.

  • No Change – CDM awaiting on submittals for emergency generators and support of excavation. Generators will be by Generac and are expected in shortly. Support of excavation on hold until PS locations have been finalized.

  • No Change – PG&S noted that they have received no response back from National Grid on possible relay of existing gas mains in the Avenue A section of the project; currently, mains on Indian Neck Rd. (up to Route 6 and Mayflower Ave.) are being replaced.  Municipal Maintenance will contact National Grid regarding their plans for Avenue A.

  • No Change – Letter to MHD District 5 requesting extension of the Sandwich Rd. (Rte.6) street opening permit remains outstanding as does the scheduling of a preconstruction conference with MH.

Work to be completed in the Next Two Weeks:

  • Gioioso will complete the installation of service connections on Cromesett Rd., Mark’s Cove Rd. and a small section of Sippican Rd.
  • Gioioso will complete the gravelling of any roads where main line and service connections have been installed.
  • Gioioso will begin the installation of the new sewer between manholes 5C and 12B on Sippican Rd.
  • Gioioso will begin installation of the 12” RCP drain on Mark’s Cove Rd. (to Sippican).

Status of Utility Companies:

  • No Change – NSTAR invoices for engineering associated with providing service for the Cromesett and Connehassett pump stations are being held by PG&S until such time as the final location of each station has been determined.

Construction Complaints:

  • None.

New Business:

  • CDM stated that marginal compaction efforts are being observed with pipe laying activities on Cromesett Rd.  It appears compaction is only being done when prompted by us or when our presence is noted. Equipment is present with the crew and activity is a required component of the work. CDM will require that a more concerted effort be undertaken; Gioioso disagrees with CDM that the issues remain the same.
  • In conjunction with the above, CDM has yet to receive results of compaction testing taken on Cromesett Rd. on 4/14; test results from May 19 also have not been received.
  • Town may be looking at installing new sewers on other streets under this contract; this decision would need to be made very soon.
  • CDM resident asked who in Town should be notified in case of water service problems (meters, aerators, plugged showers, etc.) moving forward;  if the problem is in the street, Gioioso will be called-all other calls (including after hour calls) should go to the WFDWD.
  • Oakdale Betterment Association requested information on what the process is that determines the betterment fees; Municipal Maintenance stated that all costs are being tracked in their office; further questions (to be looked into by the Town) were asked on how the stimulus grant money is to be applied.
  • Municipal Maintenance stated that they’re attempting to get the gas company to replace the mains on Avenue A before Gioioso gets there.
