WHAT ARE WAREHAM’S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS & PRIORITIES?
What are the community priorities for Wareham?
- Are there streets and sidewalks that need improvements?
- How important is it to revitalize the Village business district, or other commercial areas?
- Are there some neighborhoods in more need than others?
- Are there unmet needs that could improve the social and economic conditions faced by lower income and disadvantaged residents?
- How should vacant and underutilized properties be redeveloped?
- Does the town need more or better parks and recreational facilities?
- Should the town continue to offer housing rehabilitation assistance to its lower income residents?
- Does the town need to plan better for future change and growth?
- Should the town consider regional approaches to addressing its community needs?
- What are the priorities for using Community Development Block Grant funds?
Wareham residents, community organizations and service providers are invited to a Community Development Strategy meeting on October 17, 2011 at 6:00 PM in Room 225 in the Multi-Service Center, 48 Marion Road. This meeting is being held as the town starts planning for its FY 2012 Mini-Entitlement Plan grant application to the MA Department of Housing and Community Development.
The grant application is due on December 16, 2011 and the Town seeks public input about the community’s priorities. Join Town staff and officials to discuss community needs and propose projects that you think should be priorities for Wareham. If you are unable to attend, the Town welcomes comments in writing. Written comments should be addressed to Peter Sanborn, Acting Director, Community and Economic Development Authority (CEDA). They can be submitted by email (address below), or mailed to or dropped of at the CEDA office in Room 23 in Town Hall.
The meeting location is accessible to persons with limited mobility. If you require language translation, an interpreter, or other special accommodation, please contact Karen Hamilton at the Wareham CEDA office at 508-291-3100, ext. 3170, or via email at khamilton@wareham.ma.us by October 13, 2011.
