The Clerk's Office has three Notaries Public to notarize documents. This service is offered Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ONLY.
Anyone needing a document notarized must sign the document in the presence of the Notary. A valid picture identification, such as a license or Mass Identification, with the correct home address, is needed to prove identity. Temporary license or learner permits are not accepted as proof of identity.
Due to the complexity in notarizing of extensive wills, the Town Clerks Office will no longer provide this service. We will, however, assist with simple wills. It is the responsibility of the signee to provide witnesses, if needed, should the Clerk's Office not have a full staff available (i.e. staff on vacation, etc.).
The notarizing of mortgages often requires the need for witnesses, who should also provide identification. The majority of the time, we have three people in the office. However, during those times we do not, it becomes the responsibility of the customer to provide the witnesses.
