A water sample was collected at the state boat access point off of Ames Island Road on Agawam Mill Pond on September 4, 2018. Laboratory analysis showed cyanobacteria levels of 1,100 cells/ml, below the MDPH guideline level of 70,000 cells/ml. Microcystin toxin was not detected.
According to MDPH guidelines, samples collected a week apart with levels below the guidelines are required before MDPH can recommend that the advisory be lifted. The result above is the second low sample; therefore, the closure advisory is being lifted.
