Firearms License Instructions and Requirements

The Wareham Police Department continues to process applications and encourages residents to continue their application process. Please follow the instructions below to apply for your license to carry and submitting the required paperwork. There will be a delay in completing the process as we are not allowing entry to the building due to COVID-19. This issue is being dealt with and we will update all applicants with a date and time to come in to complete the application process.

Class A – License to Carry Firearms – (must be 21 years of age)

Firearms Identification Cards (FID) – (must be 18 years of age)

  • Complete the Massachusetts Firearms Application
  • A copy of your MA Driver’s License or State issued ID
  • Proof of residency in the Town of Wareham (copy of one of the following: electric bill, rental agreement, cell phone bill, cable bill, bank statement, or credit card bill)
  • Proof of Citizenship – a copy of your birth certificate or US Passport. Naturalization Certificate or Green Card if you are a resident alien.
  • Application Fee (see below)
  • All new applicants and anyone that has been expired for more than five years needs to provide a Massachusetts Firearms Safety Course Certificate.

New/Renewal Class A and FID Licenses

$100.00

Mace/Pepper Spray New (required under age of 18)

$25.00 (no fee for renewals)

Renewal applications age 70 +

NO FEE
Renewal for full-time Law Enforcement$25.00

Checks or money orders are the only accepted forms of payment. All checks are made payable to the “Town of Wareham”. The application fee is non-refundable and due when application is submitted.

Applications cannot be dropped off at the police station. Renewal applications with all the required information and fee must be mailed to:

Once your license is received from the Firearms Records Bureau, it will be mailed to you.
