Dept. of Natural Resources - Animal Control Division

The Wareham Department of Natural Resources - Animal Control Division insures compliance with the license, vaccination and leash laws, promotes the humane treatment of all domestic animals, addresses nuisance and aggressive animal problems to insure their safety and safety of the general public.The Animal Control Officer attends to all complaints and matters regarding domestic animals within the limits of the Town. Inspects premises holding kennel licenses and issues written reports of their conditions to the Boards of Selectmen; maintains records of all animals that become the subject of any action; and examines any premises to be used as a proposed kennel and submits reports to the Building Inspector stating whether or not the site is suitable. The Animal Control Officer also is the Town of Wareham Animal Inspector approved by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources Division of Animal Health, charged with enforcing MDAR regulations and MGL Ch 129 laws pertaining to Animal Health.
