FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Monday July 8, 2019, Police Officer Richard Robidoux worked his last shift after over 32 years of dedicated service to the Wareham Police Department.

Officer Robidoux worked as summer special officer in 1985 and 1986 before being appointed a fulltime officer in 1987. The hallmark of his career has been his commitment and dedication to the Town of Wareham and the Police Department.

Rich is known to always have his police radio on even when off duty. On many occasions although not working, he has backed up officers when they needed emergency assistance. As an example, one year a very serious storm was heading up the coast and it appeared that Wareham was going to take a direct hit. Rich, although out of state and on vacation called the department and said he would cut his trip short to make sure there was enough help in town. It is for those reasons and so many more that make his service to the town nothing short of exemplary.

Rich’s son Treavor is carrying on his dad’s commitment to public safety by serving as a member of the Wareham Fire Department.

We are pleased to report that Rich will be staying on as a special officer and will assist the department when needed on a part-time basis.

Your brother and sister officers wish you a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
