A new license (first time) remains $10 for neutered/spayed and $13 for non-altered animals.  A current/valid rabies certificate and/or a neutered or spayed certificate (original copies) will be needed to license any dog.

We will also accommodate any dog owner unable to appear at the Clerk's Office.  One would mail in all the original documentation with the fee (check or money order) made payable to the Town of Wareham, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  We would register the animal and mail the tag and paperwork back to you.   However, we cannot mail the metal hook.  If one fails to enclose the envelope, it will be the responsibility of the owner to make arrangements to pick up the license.

Please note a current rabies certificate must be on file with the Town in order to license your dog. Also, if applicable a spay/neuter certificate. (A bill of services rendered will not be accepted as proof of a rabies vaccination.)

If you no longer own a previously licensed dog, please contact the Town Clerk’s office so the dog(s) can be removed from the municipal dog list. This will assist in preventing delinquent notices for unlicensed dogs. Checks are made payable to the Town of Wareham. No out of state checks will be accepted.

Per the Town of Wareham By-Laws, Division VIII, Article II, Section 6: Any person Seventy (70) years of age or older, shall be exempt from the annual fee for one dog, per household, per year. The owner of a kennel license, age Seventy (70) years of age or older, shall be excluded from this exemption. Proof of age will be needed in order to receive discount the first time discount is provided. Seniors are not exempt from late fees.
