Inspection Scheduling & Information

You MUST call the morning you wish to schedule the inspection and speak with the inspector directly. 

Inspection requests are scheduled for the same day the request is made. Inspections are NOT scheduled in advance.

Inspection requests WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED online or via email. 

Inspection requests MUST be scheduled directly with the inspector.

When scheduling an inspection, please be sure to leave either the job address or permit number.  

  • Plumbing & Gas inspections are performed on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Please contact David Ellertson at 508-291-3100 ext. 3192. Plumbing & Gas work may only be called in by the license holder who pulled the permit.
  • Electrical/ Wiring inspections are performed Monday - Thursday. Please contact Jay Burke at 508-291-3100 ext. 3193. Wiring inspections may only be called in by the license holder who pulled the permit.
  • Building inspections are performed Monday - Thursday. To request an inspection, you must call the inspector and speak to him directly between the hours of 8:00 am – 10:00 am. Inspections may only be called in by the person who pulled the permit.

  

Examples of Required Inspections (including but not limited to):

  • Foundation – Must be tarred and sealed
  • Sonotubes – Decks, sheds overs 200 sq ft
  • Frame/Rough – Must be weather tight. (Plumbing/gas and electrical MUST be done first.)
  • Insulation
  • Siding
  • Final & Fire (Fire, if applicable) (Plumbing/gas & electrical MUST be done first.)

Deck work

  • Excavation inspection
  • Frame Inspection
  • Sonotube Inspection
  • Final Inspection

Shed/ Above Ground Pool / Accessory Strutures under 200 sq ft

  • Final Inspection

In-Ground Pool 

  • Rough Inspection of steel rebar
  • Electrical inspection
  • Installation of 4-foot fencing with self-closing gate
  • Final Inspection

Inspection Procedures  House numbers must be posted at all job sites before the job is started and any inspections take place. The following is a list of inspections required for new and addition/alteration building. It is the responsibility of the Construction Supervisor to make sure all required inspections occurs. Stamped plans and building cards must be at the job site at all times. Make sure each inspector signs the original card after each inspection; otherwise the next set of inspections will not take place:

  • Sonotube inspection
  • Footing/Foundation inspection
  • Rough frame inspection
  • Fireplace throat inspection
  • Insulation inspection
  • Rough electric/plumbing inspection
  • Final electric/plumbing inspection
  • Final building inspection

Please call the inspector directly with any questions or concerns regarding what/when inspections are needed.
