Inspection Scheduling & Information

You MUST call the morning you wish to schedule the inspection and speak with the inspector directly.  Inspection requests CANNOT be made online or via email.

When scheduling an inspection, please be sure to leave either the job address or permit number.  Inspections MUST be scheduled directly with the inspector.

Inspections for Electrical and/or Plumbing & Gas work may only be called in by the license holder who pulled the permit.

Plumbing & Gas inspections are performed on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. For Plumbing & Gas Inspections, please contact David Ellertson at 508-291-3100 ext. 3192

Electrical inspections are performed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. For Electrical Inspections, please contact Jay Burke at 508-291-3100 ext. 3193

Building Inspections are performed on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. For building inspections, you must call between the hours of 8:00 am – 10:00 am and speak with the inspector should you want an inspection that day.  Any messages left after 10:00 am for inspections will not be received /scheduled until the following day.

Required Inspections

  • Foundation – Must be tarred and sealed
  • Sonotubes – Decks, sheds overs 200 sq ft
  • Frame/Rough – Must be weather tight. (Plumbing/gas and electrical MUST be done first.)
  • Insulation
  • Siding
  • Final & Fire (Fire, if applicable) (Plumbing/gas & electrical MUST be done first.)

Deck Requirements

  • Excavation inspection
  • Frame Inspection
  • Sonotube Inspection
  • Final Inspection

Shed/ Above Ground Pool Requirements

  • Final Inspection

In-Ground Pool Requirements

  • Rough Inspection of steel rebar
  • Electrical inspection
  • Installation of 4-foot fencing with self-closing gate
  • Final Inspection

Inspection Procedures

House numbers must be posted at all job sites before the job is started and any inspections take place. The following is a list of inspections required for new and addition/alteration building. It is the responsibility of the Construction Supervisor to make sure all required inspections occurs. Stamped plans and building cards must be at the job site at all times. Make sure each inspector signs the original card after each inspection; otherwise the next set of inspections will not take place:

  • Sonotube inspection
  • Footing/Foundation inspection
  • Rough frame inspection
  • Fireplace throat inspection
  • Insulation inspection
  • Rough electric/plumbing inspection
  • Final electric/plumbing inspection
  • Final building inspection
