Town of Wareham

Health Department

Notice

August 30, 2018

A water sample was collected at the state boat access point off of Ames Island Road on Agawam Mill Pond on August 27. Laboratory analysis showed cyanobacteria levels of 16,200 cells/ml, below the MDPH guideline level of 70,000 cells/ml. Microcystin toxin was not detected.

According to MDPH guidelines, samples collected a week apart with levels below the guidelines are required before MDPH can recommend that the advisory be lifted. The result above will be considered the first low sample, and MDPH will sample at the water body again on September 4. We recommend that the current advisory remain in place for now.
