Bayview Park Sidewalks Replacement Project

The Bayview Park Sidewalks Replacement Project was included in the Town's FY 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application.* The CDBG project scope includes widened, ADA-compliant (accessible) sidewalks, accessibility improvements at the park's gazebo, and the repair or replacement of the deteriorated railing along the sidewalk on Onset Avenue.

The Town engaged Weston & Sampson for design services and then convened a small working group consisting of Town employees, committee members, and residents so that it could fully ascertain the community's desires for the updated space. Feedback from the working group was used to devise a "preferred plan" for the park, which includes updates beyond the CDBG project scope. The Town is seeking other grants and funding for the additional work as well as determining what aspects of the design can be completed "in house" by the Municipal Maintenance Department to save on costs.

The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on May 2, 2022, to endorse the preferred plan. The Town is now soliciting feedback and input from the greater community. The project summary and concept plan are linked here. Please e-mail bayviewpark@wareham.ma.us with your questions, comments, concerns, and opinions. Thank you!

*CDBG funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
